A grand Welcome Home to The SGV LGBTQ Center is in order!
As one of the only regional LGBTQ+ resource conveners since 2011, the story of The San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center speaks to the ongoing battle of suburban-based nonprofits. Welcome Home to The SGV LGBTQ Center is an exhibition that explores homecoming, the origins of the Center’s story, instances of regional LGBTQ+ hate over the years, and the deep community which has formed in response.
Over a decade after the Center’s founding, exhibition curators Art Queens Collective and Board President Camila Camaléon look back to explore cross-cultural issues, the need for action in times of crisis, and the deep connection that the San Gabriel Valley Queer and Trans community has been able to find. Hosted at their headquarters in the City of El Monte, we Welcome You Home to The SGV LGBTQ Center.
Welcome Home to The SGV LGBTQ Center will be on view at The San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center from Saturday, October 19–Saturday, November 30, 2024.
The opening reception for the exhibition will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Exhibition open hours will continue after the program until 4 p.m.
This exhibition is suitable for all ages.
This Grand Opening and Exhibition is curated by the Art Queens Collective and Board President Camila Camaleón as part of Circa: Queer Histories Festival 2024, presented by One Institute.
