Join photographer Morgan Lieberman for a short lecture and screening of the short film from Hidden Once, Hidden Twice, a long-term documentary project chronicling the lives of senior lesbian partnerships across the United States. The dialogue will continue with a Q&A as well as a t-shirt and print sale featuring limited edition graphics to continue to raise funds for the book project. 

This program will take place at One Gallery on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m., alongside Lieberman’s exhibition.

From Past to Present: Honoring the Stories of Senior Lesbian Partnerships is a poignant photography exhibition in continuation of Morgan Liberman’s Hidden Once, Hidden Twice documentary project. Through a collection of intimate portraits and archival materials, the exhibition explores love, activism, and resilience. Anchored by a lavender quilt featuring vintage lesbian graphics, the work honors the intersections of activism, feminism, and personal journeys that shaped the queer community. 

From Past to Present: Honoring the Stories of Senior Lesbian Partnerships will be on view at One Gallery in West Hollywood from Sunday, October 13-Sunday, October 20, 2024. Gallery hours are Thursday-Sunday, 1-7 p.m.

This program is suitable for all ages.

Morgan Lieberman is a queer, Jewish documentary photographer based in Los Angeles, California. She most prominently documents narratives of identity, disability, and subculture. Her work has been published in TIME, National Geographic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and several other national outlets. She is currently working on her first photography book about senior lesbian partnerships across all 50 states.

This exhibition and program are organized and curated by Morgan Lieberman as part of Circa: Queer Histories Festival 2024, presented by One Institute.

  • One Gallery is an art gallery and cultural programming space operated by One Institute, the oldest active LGBTQ+ organization in the country. Located in the heart of West Hollywood, One Gallery is dedicated to hosting archival and contemporary art installations that showcase LGBTQ+ history. Through partnerships with established and emerging community partners, the gallery also serves as a low-cost, multi-purpose space for community meetings, creative workshops, classes, and other mission-aligned programming.
