The category is JOY! Please mark your calendars for “A Lovely Day,” a family yoga class with multi-hyphenate artist and play enthusiast Jasmin Benward (she/they). This sensory workshop will delight the entire crew through kid-friendly yoga poses, sing-alongs, ecstatic dance, acro yoga, games, and a relaxing story time wind-down.
This workshop will take place at Scribble in Highland Park on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1-2:30 p.m.
This event is for littles aged 3+ to adults. All skill levels/ abilities welcomed, and first-timers encouraged! Participants should wear loose and/or comfortable clothing suitable for various ranges of movement. Please bring one yoga mat per participant and water to hydrate.
Upon registration, please provide the first names, preferred-to-be-called titles, and ages of your family members to help aid in content planning. Guardians are expected to stay on site and participate, as well as sign waivers pre-class for themselves and their respective minors.
This program is suitable for all ages.
Participants
Jasmin Benward (She/They) is a Black, non-binary, queer, invisibly disabled multidisciplinary artist, educator, and creative instructor based in Mexico City, Mexico, by way of South Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and Atlanta. Jasmin expresses herself via music as a Music Supervisor, Songwriter/Topliner, Creative/Sync Coordinator, and A&R Rep; via multidisciplinary writing as an Author, Essayist, and Screenwriter; and through wellness as a Family Yoga and Mindfulness Instructor.
Their life’s work includes disrupting the inequities of marginalized and underrepresented folks across mixed-media, entertainment, education, and wellness. Jasmin founded startup, Create the Room, to do just that.
Jasmin is a proud recipient of craft development through art/community-based organizations. Fellowships, mentorships, awards include: a Black Queer Creative Summit Finalist (GLAAD), a Disruptors Screenwriting Fellow (The Center for Cultural Power), a Music Supervision Fellow (Women in Film), a Songwriting Mentee (Unlock Her Potential), and a Music Innovation Fellow (Keychange U.S.)

Scribble is a non-profit counseling center located in Highland Park Los Angeles. We offer affordable individual, couples, group, and family therapy sessions on a sliding scale. Services are available in person as well as through telehealth in the state of California.
