In the trans/queer community love is found and shared on the dance floor. Raves and clubs act as a form of resistance.
“140+ (how to DJ)” led by cleophus yesha’yahu (@weepingwillowtree.34_dj) will help participants to learn the fundamentals of DJ’ing. Attendees will learn how to download tracks, record their DJ sets, get recommendations on necessary equipment, and learn the importance of rave community. All are welcome, and individual learning is encouraged, whether your interest is in curating a club, rave, or ambient vibe. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment such as a laptop and/or DDJ, or attend the event to listen and learn.
The workshop will take place at Junior High LA on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 7-8:30 p.m.
This program is suitable for all ages.
cleophus yesha’yahu is a noise artist, dj and visual communicator here to remind us (all) that we have the right to own and take up space. being a sagittarius and dealing with racism and transphobia throughout her entire life she has been made to feel like she did not have this right.
her work represents her fight against this mentality. embracing her blackness, queerness and all the insecurities about herself. recognizing that these things give her individuality and her sense of self. she invites u along to take up space and embrace the most genuine parts of u.<3
This workshop is organized by cleophus yesha’yahu as part of Circa: Queer Histories Festival 2024, presented by One Institute.
